A dark comedy/drama by Martin Paul Rocht
Direction by Sheila McCormick
Sue spent her married life with a man who was never there, at least not with her. At his funeral, she meets Ann, his secretary, and thinks she’s found her soulmate. Together they hatch a plan to laugh, drink and make fun of the afterlife and those who ask “Is There Anybody There?” However, things take some unexpected twists and turns and what begins as a joke becomes much more and the journey they go on ends in two very different places.
CAST:
- SUE: Large role. Late 30’s to 50. Self-assured and well dressed. Hard with a bitter humour that hides her vulnerability.
- ANN: Large role. Late 30’s to 50. Business like. Initially appears to be a friend to Sue but turns out to be dark and manipulative.
SUE AND ANN SHOULD LOOK TO BE OF A SIMILAR AGE
- THE WOMAN: Medium role. Any age. A mysterious, complicated character who leaves the audience wondering as to who and what she is.
The play is scheduled to run at Milnerton Playhouse end February/beginning March 2025 with rehearsals starting end October/beginning November 2024 (Depending on availability of rehearsal space in theatre).
