Cinema Serenade celebrates the world of the silver screen, seamlessly moving from opera to jazz through some of the greatest arias and ballads ever written.
Soprano Louise Howlett is known on stage as being a classically trained soprano who can effortlessly slip between styles to jazz and broadway, whilst off stage she is an avid promoter of classical music as well as a presenter on Fine Music Radio; pianist Albert Combrink is celebrated as performer, speaker, historian and teacher and Dylan Tabisher is multi-faceted musician equally at home performing with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra or in a Cape Town club with skills ranging from jazz bass to classical marimba.
From movies of the silver age such as Casablanca and a Room with A View, to the Rat Pack era and James Bond, to the Broadway musicals that have become movie sensations. This concert is just over an hour long and has something for everyone. As always the trio engage with the audience taking them on a journey through the world of the silver screen.
The trio will bring their serenade for the first time to the cosy ‘cabaret foyer’ of the Milnerton Playhouse on Sunday 19 July.
Doors open at 3pm and refreshments will be on sale before the main feature starts at 3.30pm.
