NEXT SOCIAL EVENING Friday 2 November @ 20h00
Colleen Lorusso is a very busy lady at present. As well as stage managing Dangerous Obsession, she is also rehearsing plays for the social evening in between performances.
This will be Colleen’s second time directing for a social evening and this time she’s presenting a double bill of one act plays for us.
The play for the first half of the evening is THE OPEN DOOR, a two-hander featuring two newcomers; Derek Jonker who auditioned, but wasn’t cast, in Dangerous Obsession and Hannah Crafford who joined the society when she came to see the play on the first weekend.
We’ll see some familiar faces in the second play, a comedy entitled H.R. The cast includes James King, Lauren Haupt, Anton Schäfer (rehearsing in between appearing in Dangerous Obsession), and Petra Baker.
The plays will be performed on the foyer stage as set construction will then be in progress for The Christmas Spirit on the main stage. Now that the weather is warming up, and with some great entertainment on offer, we hope to have a good turnout for this evening.
We are delighted to welcome four new members this month. Andrea Fourie (currently appearing in Dangerous Obsession), Nakita Allen and Gary Green (both members of the cast of The ChristmasSpirit) and Hannah Crafford (who’ll appear on stage for the first time in our forthcoming social evening)
I’m afraid there’s some more sad news about one of our former members, who I’m sure some of you will remember. I had a phone call from one of the musicians, who played for a few of our shows, to tell me that Maureen Anstey had passed away. He had no details of when or how she died. Maureen appeared in several productions for Milnerton over the years and she also took part in at least one G & S musical at Artscape. Our sympathies go to her husband, Maon, and their family.
COMMITTEE CHIT CHAT My humble apologies for giving our new treasurer the wrong Christian name in the last Prattle. He is Barry Strick, not Brian. However, with our Chairman also being Barry, it would be less confusing at committee meetings if he was Brian.
